today cricket prediction

With the Women’s Hundred League back in action, we’ve got loads more limited-overs cricket to be excited about. The Southern Brave already played their first game and defeated the Rockets by 27 runs. Sadly, the Welsh Fire’s initial match against the Originals had to be cancelled due to poor weather.

The Southern Brave Women vs. Welsh Fire Women will take place on August 4th and be played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. Not sure who’s going to win? Keep track of cricket betting tips here.

The Southern Brave had a great 2022 season but will be looking for revenge, as the Invincibles beat them in a very close Final with only 6 balls remaining.

There have been quite a few changes to the Brave squad this season, most notably Dunkley (193 runs in 2022) moving to the Fire and Wellington (17 wickets) switching to Manchester.

The good news is that Mandhana (211 runs) and Wyatt (177 runs) remain in the squad, as do Bell (11 wickets) and Adams (9 wickets). As well, there are exciting new additions to the team, including allrounder Chloe Tryon (South Africa) and pace bowler Maitlan Brown (Australia).

The season has already begun well for the Brave, with a convincing win over the Rockets thanks largely to Mandhana (55 runs) and Taylor (3 wickets).

The Welsh Fire will be searching for better performances in this season’s campaign, as they had an awful 2022 season by finishing last with a 1-5 record.

Batting wasn’t a major problem for the Fire, as they had decent scorers like Beaumont (138 runs), Bryce (120), and Matthews (109). All three are back with the team, but at least there’s the addition of batter Laura Harris (Australia) to help the runs flow.

Bowling was certainly the low point for this squad, as they simply struggled to take wickets and limit the runs scored against them. Nicholas was the best bowler with 6/99 and thankfully she’s back in the team, but after that, it’s slim pickings. Carey is gone, but the Fire have added fast bowler Shabnim Ismail (South Africa) to improve the bowling.

The bowling can pick in speed in the second innings, therefore it is usually preferable to bat first in this situation. For T20 games, the side batting first has won 42/67 times, and scores of about 220 are not uncommon.

Early in the game, the Rose Bowl surface may be slower, which could force batters to make simple errors. Spinners are known to generate a lot of movement and spin, but skilled batters may rack up a lot of runs if they grasp the flight of the ball.

It’s clear that the Brave are the favourite to win here according to Cricthala, and that’s a sensible bet to make. However, the odds aren’t too exciting and we think that the Fire are different enough from last season’s team to have a big change. The odds are much more interesting for the Fire, and new additions like Harris and Ismail will help.

The Fire will have a tough task to limit runs by the Brave batters like Mandhana and Wyatt, but Ismail and Nicholas should be up to the task. It won’t be easy, but there’s enough talent on this Fire team to forget 2022 and make 2023 an improved campaign.

Bet on the Welsh Fire to win.
