It’s been a bit of a strange start for the Originals after having two games abandoned due to bad weather, but they still managed to keep their cool and pick up a recent win over the Phoenix. The Invincibles are near the bottom of the ladder with one loss and one draw, also due to rain.

OVAL INVINCIBLES WOMEN
It feels too early to judge the Invincibles just yet, as this is still the team that went 5-1 last season and won the title. The squad has one abandoned match and a loss to the Fire, but the rest of the league should still be wary.
Winfield-Hill was the only good batter in the second game with 42 runs, as the next five batters combined for a very terrible 18 runs. It’s unlikely things will stay that way, especially with big names like Bates, Capsey, and Kapp on the roster.
We shouldn’t be too worried about the bowling, either, as Kapp was still great in the second game with 4/18. Capsey and Grey each had 8 wickets last season, so they’ll get their act together soon enough.
MANCHESTER ORIGINALS WOMEN
As the first two games were cancelled, we only have one game to judge this latest Originals team, but it’s certainly one that we thought would be incredible.
It was no surprise that Wolvaardt was the team scorer with 38 runs, just like we predicted in the betting tips. She was the league leader in runs scored last year, and looks like she could do the same in 2023. As the Originals batted second and only needed to beat 87, they just needed help from really one other batter, and that was Campbell with 28 runs.
It was the Manchester bowlers who look great right now, as Morris shocked everyone with a big effort of 5 wickets for 7 runs. We knew Ecclestone would be great, but 4/11 was more than we anticipated. Wellington had 1/16, but she’ll still be required to take more wickets as the season moves on.

Because the pitch often slows down later in the contest, captains will prefer to bat in the second innings. Teams choosing to bowl first have won 39/68 games here.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
Batting has enormous benefits in this pitch, as the majority of teams reach large totals, especially in short-over matches like T20 and the Hundred. The highest score on the ground is 240 runs, while the average is between 160 and 170. Because there is less bounce on this pitch, batters can predict the direction of the ball considerably more easily.
